| Weiss Equipment was founded in 1917 by Ferd and Emma Weiss. Originally Weiss Equipment was established as an International Harvester, James Manufacturing and New Idea farm equipment Dealership. In addition to farm equipment we sold Maxwell and Studebaker automobiles selling seventeen cars in the first year.
In 1951 Ferd and Emma sold the business to their children Ray, Gib, and Anita, with Anita getting bought out in 1965.
Seeing an opportunity to grow the business, in 1962 A lawn and garden department was added. Over time the business out grew the original building, and Weiss Equipment moved in 1980 to its current location, also adding a Polaris Snowmobile dealership at that time which was purchased from Red Zielinger.
In 1984 the third generation assumed the reigns, Ray’s sons, Al and Rod purchased the business. Since that time, a dairy equipment and farmstead business has been added in Cass City to service the thumb area dairy and cattle farmers.
Now in our 92nd year of business we currently employ over 25 people, and are one of Frankenmuth’s oldest businesses. We now proudly sell Case IH Agricultural equipment, the full line of Cub Cadet products, Polaris Snowmobiles, ATV’s and Side by Sides, and much more. Stop in and see us, we would be glad to help you.
